Polyshield Pile Wrap
Help protect your piling and dock investment from marine borers by installing our pile wrap product (Polyshield) . This product is a high density polyethylene material that is .030" thick. Polyshield also assures environmental protection because it prevents the leaching of the chemicals used for treating the wood into the surrounding soil or water.
The Problem of Marine Borers
The greatest concern are organisms collectively referred to as marine borers. Once a marine borer has infiltrated an untreated marine piling, it is only a matter of time before the entire structure will become infested, weaken, and collapse.
Polyshield has been approved by US Fish and Wildlife, National Marine Fisheries, US Army Corp of Engineers, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the National Park Service as a "non-polluting" construction product. The resin that is used to manufacture Polyshield is designed for use in the harsh saltwater environment, and is also approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
We are installing the pile wrap using 1-1/4" stainless steel ring-shank roofing nails. For best results, nails are installed every 4" along the seams. Our pile wrap is only available in black color because of its high UV rating.
- We come out and inspect your piling by probing them to ensure their integrity.
- Remove most marine hard growth.
- Once cleaned and inspected we in-case the piling with the Polyshield.
We will also put them on a regular schedule, once a quarter or as needed for your area, to keep them cleaned and prevent human injury and damage to the hull of your vessel when coming in contact with your pilings.
